Today we experienced a type of hospitality that completely blew us away. A few weeks ago we accepted an offer from a friend of ours in Green Bay. That was to send as many brochures, classifieds and pamphlets of Green Bay and the local areas to help us in advance of the big move. I don’t normally like to ask people for things but I was assured it was no problem so I graciously accepted. What arrived in the mail 3 weeks later (tonight) was so unexpected we didn’t know what to do. It was the most comprehensive box of Green Bay paraphernalia we had ever seen, complete with hats for Kelly and I, presents for the boys and a note welcoming us to Green Bay for the very first time. We had a look at some of it this evening but will save most of it for when the boys are packed up in bed and we can spread it all over the floor.
Posted in: On the Road to...,My last live game of Rugby League this year.
I haven’t been to the football (Rugby League) here for a while. The Sharks haven’t been doing so well of late after a cracking start to the season. Either way I went tonight with a good friend of mine. A tight friend but a good none the less. The way the Sharks are playing doesn’t really lend itself to travelling 35 minutes to an away game, parking a mile from the stadium, standing there in the cold for an hour and half all to walk away with another “L” for the season.
One month to go until the Eagles game.
Today I began the search for some type of long term accommodation. The serious search that is. I have been looking for a little while but nothing real serious. Today it’s note pad at the ready, phone calls at the set and emails to as many different places as I can.
Kelly and I set off quite early this morning to interview with the US Consulate for our visas. We do so without the boys as we’re not quite sure what we’re in for. For the first time in a longtime we travel by train which is something that neither of us are sure we’ll do again. It’s not so much the train service by the way as it is the getting to and from the train station. Anyway, as is not usually the case with me, we arrived with plenty of time to spare (thank you Kelly) which was good ‘cause what was in-store we soon realised, was going to take us the best part of the day.
Posted in: On the Road to...,Preparing for our interview tomorrow for the most part. I want to make sure we are completely covered. All paperwork, flight details, itinerary, bank statements, passports. You name it we’ve got it ready.
