As you now know I finally pulled my finger out and organised a car yesterday so that we could stop being such a burden on all of those so happy to help us. This worked out great today as Kelly was taking her weekly trip away from the craziness that has become our day to day lives again.
For our first trip in the newly acquired wheels, we were off to experience a time honoured American tradition. The Homecoming parade and a game of Friday Night Lights. We were lucky enough to do this at Ashwaubenon High School amongst their pristinely manicured gardens, spectacularly dressed and well rehearsed band and a football team that remains undefeated, like our Green Bay Packers, through the first 5 weeks of their season
Wanting to experience everything we can in what little time we are here can sometimes prove difficult. Particularly when the weather turns wet and we don’t have any transport. Having tried unsuccessfully to stop the rain myself I figured the best way to go about fixing our situation was to come to terms with the weather and organise a vehicle to keep us on the road regardless.
We started the day with strawberry and banana pancakes which to some may sound reasonably straight forward. What if you don’t have a fry pan to cook them in though? That’s simple, just ask Kelly. With a slightly thicker mix, a very careful pour and a watchful eye, pancakes can be made, with ease apparently, in a good ol’ regular saucepan. Who would have thunk it?
Firstly I must apologise for a week’s worth of missing posts. Things have been pretty crazy since we arrived and we haven’t had the chance, as a family, to sit back and spend any time together. You know that feeling, when you’re in and out so often doing different things that time literally gets away from you? That’s how it has been for us.
