Radio, Shopping and Friends

imageI was up at 6 this morning to be in Appleton to meet Rick and Len at 105.7 WAPL. The attention we have received as I keep saying, is phonenomenal. More so because we haven’t looked for it and so many people are into our story. I must say, I’m a little uncomfortable about the entries for this week because, from where I’m sitting, it’s all “We did this and we did that and we met so and so”. I’ve had a hard time trying to decide whether I post it at all but it’s what we’re doing. If I didn’t there wouldn’t be much to write about.

Double D, Crosby and Me

Tuesday, September 11, 2007

imageI was very excited about letting Kelly go for the day today so that she could feel a little bit human again. What better way of getting out of the house (hotel room) is there than shopping, lunch and coffee with a friend? OK, I’m sure there are a ton of better remedies, not the least of which would start with trips to Paris, diamonds and handbags but alas, this was the best we could manage.

The Whirlwind Continues

Monday, September 10, 2007

imageThe last 24 hours have been a real blur. Coming to terms with being at the game yesterday and kicking back with Kelly and the boys was all I thought I had to worry about. Not so.

We have been so lucky as to have had people recognise our story from Fox11 yesterday. It’s amazing how acutely an Aussie accent or two stands out in a crowd. Believe us. For those of you who didn’t see it and I’m only doing this because we’ve been asked, please check the media page of this site for the link.

Week 1, Eagles - Grab a Cuppa, It’s a Long One.

Sunday, September 09, 2007

imageFirstly let me say this is a long one. I tested a few different formats but this seemed best.

The 50th Anniversary of Lambeau Field. Brett Favre equals the record for most games won as a QB. The Packers haven’t won a home opener since 2002.

So I thought I didn’t know where to start yesterday.....

How do you write about something that you have just experienced when for the last 18 years it was all you wanted to do? How do you do justice to your teenage memories, your 1991 Pro-Set card collection, the posters that used to be on your wall and the Zubaz hat that you took absolutely everywhere you went? (C’mon you remember Zubaz, don’t be shy.) I spent hours as a kid, by myself, throwing one of your footballs at a trash can while my mates at a park nearby would kick one of our footballs and talk amongst themselves. I’d (aka Don Majkowski) roll-out, avoid the rush and side arm as best as I could to a receiver (bin with Sterling Sharpe’s #84 scribbled on to it) that was in double coverage (under a tree cause it was usually really hot) and get the first down with less than a minute to go on a pass that threaded the needle (missed the bin again).

What a Whirlwind

Saturday, September 08, 2007

imageI don’t even know where to start today.

By now most of you will have seen the photo to the left plastered across the front of The Green Bay Press Gazette. I would like to thank the Gazette for everything they have done in making Kelly, Benjamin, Lucas and Myself feel so very welcome here in Green Bay. In particular Mike who has gone out of his way to follow our story from well before we even considered following this once in a lifetime trip.
