Brett and Deanna Favre
Sunday 13th January 2008
at 03:54pm
I mentioned in my pre-game post that a friend of mine, with his buddies, was partying at the Steakhouse before the game and I was lucky enough to join them. The call I made, after we had started on our way home, was to him to see if he was still out on the town. Owning the infamous “Packer Limo” I must admit I kind of figured he would be.
We met up with him and whilst Nancy and I were enjoying a celebratory Pepsi each, we still couldn’t believe the sort of night we had just had.
Over the next few minutes though one thing led to another and we ended up quite literally, in the right place at the right time. We met someone there in the bar area (not sure if it was my Aussie hat or accent that started us talking) who knew someone, who knew someone and before we knew it we were a table away from Brett and Deanna as they had some dinner together.
Unsure of how we had gone from 100 yards on the way home to here some 15 minutes later, we sat and chatted some more about the game, the snow, the atmosphere and anything “Packer” that we could. Not long after that, once my accent was picked up, I was asked if I’d like meet them. I considered saying no so that they could.....yeah right. I was up like a flash.
I know exactly how lucky I was to be in that position so I don’t want to spend the next 4 paragraphs recalling our conversation word for word. I don’t think it would be right. I will say though that both Brett and Deanna are two of the loveliest, kind hearted people I have met. They smiled, offered me a seat, made me feel more welcome than I could have imagined and we chatted for a little on different things that have happened over the last 12 months.
It was like we had met 100 times before and this was just another.
Not wanting to outstay my welcome Nancy and I offered our thanks and asked for a couple of pics as attached. I’m not normally the sort of guy that would do that but heck, if not tonight then when? As we smiled and made our way back to our table I wondered to Nancy, “Do you think they know that they’re Brett and Deanna Favre?”
A little bewildered by the whole 10 hour experience we, for the second time, commenced our walk home. This time though we made it all the way. It was getting late after all and I had a whole night of not being able to sleep ahead of me.
What a day. What a game. Go Giants (Sunday 13th Jan. only).

Hey Wayne, I’m glad that you got to meet Brett and Deanna. It really shows that they are just two down to earth people. A lot of people outside of Green Bay think they are arrogant...I just don’t see it.
Go Pack!

Wow. I’m extremely jealous of you! I was fortunate to be able to go to one game this season, but from what I’ve read, you’ve been lucky enough to witness the entire season and even meet Brett! Big ups for following your heart and your dreams, here’s hoping that you will be attending the Super Bowl (To watch the Pack win of course!)

Wayne, what a brilliant end to one of the greatest days a Packer fan could ever hope to experience! Your “Once in a Lifetime” dream has potentially turned into the “Once in a Lifetime” season. Did your wife understand how wild it was that you were able to meet Brett and Deanna Favre? I’m glad you documented your playoff experience with such heartfelt emotion and details, because I believe that if you were to tell that story 50 years from now to your grandchildren they might think you were telling them a fairytale! Thanks for sharing your dream with all of us.

My friend and I bumped into you after the playoff game on Saturday. We took some pictures and talked a bit before you and Nancy had to leave. We were very excited that we were able to talk with you! I am even more excited that you got to meet the Favre’s! I’m hoping one day I can meet both of them, but then again who doesn’t? You have so many memories and many more to come! Enjoy the rest of your time here! It was wonderful to meet you! Have safe travels.

What a wonderful experience for the two of you!!! I met Brett once and I was so overwhelmed that all I could say was HI and good luck in the game today.
I was listening to you on the Fox channel this morning and I think you should write a book on your families experiences following the Packers and life in Green Bay. Just a thought.

I’ve been following your story on and off since close to the beginning. I just love all your posts, your enthusiasm, your love of all things Packers, including snow! This post actually brought tears to my eyes. OK, I’m kinda a softie anyway, but you have a great style of writing, of putting your thoughts to “paper”. What a great addition to you whole story...meeting Brett and Deanna.

What a fantastic wave you’re riding, Wayne! I was at the “snowglobe game” as well and it was one of the best I’ve ever attended! It’s an incredible time for Packer fans right now, so I can’t even imagine how exciting it must be for you. Reading your story, it almost seems (dare I say) that this season is destined to end happily ever after! Stay warm today and GO PACK GO!!

I thought somewhere along the way a meet up with Brett (and Deanna) would cap your experience here. After all Brett Favre and Packers will always go in the same sentence. What an absolutely awesome experience this whole gig has been for you. And reading your blogs has made it even more incredible and awesome for the rest of us. Much Good Luck to you, Kelly and the boys as you wind down this incredible adventure and begin your regular life anew.
