The Final Pack Up

imageJust a quick update to let you know what we’re up to today. It’s officially our last day in the apartment so packing is the only priority. We’ve filled the big suitcases and only have the little ones to go. Something tells me we’re going to run out of room. (This photo is courtesy of the Green Bay Press Gazette.)

As for the last few days? Yesterday, with the weather, was pretty crazy. For those that don’t live around here it started Tuesday afternoon. The temps dropped from 41F (5C) to -5F (-21C) in the space of a few hours and we experienced sunshine, rain, hail and snow one after the other. The news stations were going crazy with weather reports and the ice all over the roads was literally causing havoc with unsuspecting drivers spinning into roadside ditches.

Yesterday started at -14F (-26C) and warmed up to an even 0F (-18C) with wind chills up to -40F (-40C). Yes for some reason, when it gets that cold the fahrenheit and celsius temperatures meet? I have no idea why. Now i know this is Wisconsin but we find the variable temperatures amazing. 10 days ago I was at the Championship game freezing. Then it warmed up again then it snowed and now we’re freezing again. It’s incredible.

We took the boys down to the mall to excercise them a little and I noticed something very interesting. Surrounding the play area was a whole lot of coats that seemed to have been left there for no reason. There must have been at least 8 of them. Kelly explained to me that they were left there by people who use the mall to walk around for their daily excercise routine. Sure enough, as the boys played, we noticed people literally walking laps of the mall. Now that made me feel like we were living in the climate we are living in. The fact that nobody else seemed to venture out, leaving us almost alone in the mall was another tell tale sign that Mother Nature ruled the day.

There’s alot more i could talk about but for now, i’ll leave it there. I just wanted to let you know we were still around. With any luck our bags will magically pack themselves from here and our next few days will be a breeze.....yeah right!

By the way, Kelly and I would like to thank everybody for the great emails and comments we have received lately. Again, we are struggling to return them but we read every one of them and appreciate them all. We are so happy that you enjoy what you read and hear about our story. It makes taking time out to write like this, more than worthwhile.

Thank you again.

G’day Wayne and Kelly
I just want you to know that your philosophy is 100% dead on. Recently I have taken some of the same risks that you have to follow a dream. I have discovered a few things accordingly. First, where there once was one dream, there are now many. Second, dreams do come true! Finally, I am the happiest I have been my entire 41 years of life!
I share your love of the Packers and I share the love of your blog and videos with anyone else who happens to come across them. I for one enjoy the excitement and emotion you convey as REAL people! Just because you are going home to Sydney does not mean your dream is over. Your decision to share your adventure with the world means your dream will never end.
I am looking forward to your book, but how about a series? I would love to follow the Scullino’s around the world… Maybe on the Travel Channel?
I hope to hear from you after you thaw out!
Mike

Gosh, it sure is going to be different to not click on to your website daily to see what interesting observations you have for this part of the world. I truly think you should go into some form of communication....i.e....writing or commentary.  You do have a talent for that.  Will be looking forward to the book and like Mike said..maybe a series on the Travel Channel. And Good Luck and Godspeed and to Kelly, you are an amazing woman to participate in your Hubby’s dream!

You know, technically I don’t think you were here for training camp, so I don’t think your dream is officially complete yet.  Looks like you’re going to have to come back next season.  See you in July!

DON’T GO HOME, WAYNE!!!

Thankyou for your stories and commitment to the packers. You are truely 1 IN A MILLION. I also think a hollywood movie or Oprah best seller should come of all of this. You and your family deserve all that comes your way and may god bless you with nothing but the best that life has to offer.

Hey Wayne ... sunshine, rain, hail and snow one after the other. Sounds like a normal Melbourne day were all four season often happen in one day. Just like the Crowded House song says.

Hope you’ll be ready for the reality check when you arrive back in Sydney. I’m sorry to say that big city impersonal lifestyle hasn’t gone away while you were out of town.

For a while you’ll probably feel like a modern day Bilbo Baggins returning to the Shire after an incredible quest.

Consider it just the next phase of your once in a lifetime experience.

By the way I read the Gazette “Thankyou” article yesterday. A really nice parting gesture to all your US friends and acquaintances

Safe journey back downunder
