Happy Easter 2011

I feel like it’s been so long since I’ve updated the website. I guess that’s because it has been. Life has been going at a tremendous pace and there hasn’t been alot of time for me to step back and take a break from it all. Since I last said hello, work has gotten a whole lot busier and my extra-curricular activities have been more demanding also. The boys have been wonderful and so too, of course, has my lovely wife.
We’re on Easter break at the moment, only a few hours from Good Friday in fact and we’re looking forward to hanging out together, with our friends over the next few days off. There’s Easter egg hunts, Easter egg painting as you can see and hopefully a whole lot of Easter weekend sunshine that we can enjoy whilst we’re off. I am sorry that I’ve asked for that by the way, I have been staying in touch with some of my Green Bay pals via Facebook and Twitter and I see you’ve just had a whole lot of snow that wasn’t at all welcome. In the middle of April I can see why you’d be a little upset! (The opening pic is a little sand sculpture I created at the beach the other day.)
This week in particular has been action packed I have to say. I guess that’s why, sub-consciously, my brain has told me to get cracking on this update before it was too late.
Because the boys are on school holidays for 2 weeks, Kel, with a friend of ours, took the kids down to Canberra, the nation’s capital (that’s right, it’s not Sydney) to visit the National Science Musuem and do a whole lot of other touristy things. Canberra from our place is almost exactly the same as Green Bay to Chicago. Only we’re the big city and they’re the small one.
Speaking of which, the Autralian Bureau of Statistics announced this week that Sydney’s population is denser then those of LA, Paris and London. Not necessarily relevant to this story but an interesting tidbit for those that wonder what sort of a city Syndey is by comparion to others.
We’ve also entertained the doodles (new nickname for them) by seeing both Hop and Rio at the movies and we attended the Cronulla Easter Show today which, lucky for us, the boys think is the Sydney Royal Easter Show. I say lucky for us because the Sydney Royal Easter Show is one of the largest events on the annual calendar in this city. It’s a pain to get to and a pain to get out of. It costs a small fortune to get in and everything inside will cost you your next born. Then there are the showbags… No need to go on… That said, our little show here in Cronulla still has rides, sideshow alley games and showbags so don’t feel bad for the boys, they still have a ball, we get to walk instead of drive and the family saves about $400 all in all!
As for the NFL, I see the lockout really isn’t progressing any. I’m not surprised by that though I do believe they’ll sort it out before Week 1. We want football and so do they. I think it’ll all fall into place soon enough.
Speaking of which the season schedule has been released. I see we open the season against New Orleans, should be a great game. Also a great game to miss if we are still locked out! The other big benefit of a shortened season too, could be the fact that 4 of our last 7, and 3 of 4 games in December are all at home. Great for cold weather, smash-mouth, Green Bay Packer football.
So far as the draft goes, I can’t believe the hyperbole at the moment. I know there is no season or free agency to speak of but seriously there’s some crazy stuff going around right now. I started reading an article the other day that moved into the colour of potential draftees hair and how it suits the position they play. I mean serioulsy? Plus, the draft is tough for me to get into. We don’t get enough college football here for me to know any of the prospects and quite frankly, I don’t have the time to seek it out the way I do with the Packers. I’m sure we’ll do well though. We are Super Bowl Champions after all. TT and MM must be doing something right.
That said, I’ve been burning the candle at both ends to try and get this book rewritten and complete for November / December. If I do manage to do it then we expect to spend a good 3 or 4 weeks in Green Bay at the end of the year. Just in time for the snow and another white Christmas! The pic of me with the whiteboard is a few notes I managed to scribble to keep me on the right track a few weeks back.
Well, I must say that for a reasonably lengthy post that was done quite quickly. And that’s a good thing, it’s past midnight now and it’s time for me to hit the hay. All is well down here, hoping all is well for you up there too. And hoping you have a wonderfully warm and Happy Easter. Go Brewers Go! Hahaha!
For some reason smiley faces aren’t working anymore by the way. Let’s just say that if they did, there’d be one right here!

Fred, you might be right mate, traffic around here dips during the off season. We might be the only ones here. My Ashwaubenon buddies will see it sooner or later!
