Last Week’s Photo Album

imageWhere oh where does the time go? It’s been that long since my last post that I don’t even know where to begin. Perhaps i could start with all of the time we have been spending at the beach.....nah.....that wouldn’t very nice now would it?

Truth be known I did have an entry ready to go but then, thanks to my waiting for the new month of internet allowance to begin, 4 more days past so I figured I’d put them altogether.

Perhaps the most consuming part of the last 2 weeks has been the sickness that has gone around. Touch wood I’ve escaped it so far but at some point Kelly, her Mum, Ben and Luc have all had the flu. For the most part they all still have it which has made this one interesting house I can tell you. Also, just as the sickness was starting its rounds, Kel had her wisdom teeth out as mentioned in my last post. The poor girl was incoherent when she got home but I’m happy to say that the pain has now passed.

I thought what I’d do this week is comment around photos like I did a couple of times while we there. With it being longer than it should have been between posts there are too many things to talk about and I could quite literally be here for days writing it all. It’s in chronological order dating back to the 20th February, the day before my last post:

image

Thursday 21st Feb – This was Ben’s first official day at Pre School. Kelly still picked him up early though, just in case it was a little much for him but he wasn’t interested in leaving at all. Kel arrived just after lunch to take him home but he wanted to stay and play with his newly found friends. There was a pic with Daddy in it aswell but the smiles from Kel and Ben in this one are priceless.

image

Friday 22nd Feb - Both Kelly and I took Ben to Pre School this morning so that we could take a walk along the sand together and get a coffee for our troubles. Have you figured that we are fans of the golden sands yet?

image

Friday 22nd Feb – This is Ben and I after Pre School. His school is quite a way from Kel’s parents as we decided to enrol him near where we would be living at the end of the year and not have to change him then. As a result he needs a little “pick me up” for the ride home. That is to say he needs and ice cream so that he doesn’t fall asleep in the car then stay up till 11pm.

image

Saturday 23rd Feb - This is perhaps one of our favourite scenes since arriving home; Ben and Luc sharing a little table to eat their morning and afternoon tea. Yes, just in case you’re wondering, that sandwich Ben is eating does have Vegemite on it.

image

Saturday 23rd Feb – By the time the afternoon rolled around it was up around 90F (32C) so we went outside for the boys to splash around in the water.

image

Sunday 24th Feb – In all of the time that we have been back we hadn’t really made the effort to hang out as a foursome so this morning we packed our things and headed down to the lake to see what interesting things we could do.This is Ben doing his best to feed the ducks. Even if there weren’t many around to feed.....

image

Sunday 24th Feb – You can’t see it in this pic but there was a bird nearby that Luc was having all sorts of fun chasing

image

Sunday 24th Feb – What better way to see the great outdoors than a bike that you can pedal and be pushed on all at the same time?

image

Sunday 24th Feb – Seeing as the ducks couldn’t have cared less about the bread we had brought for them, we went straight to the shade of the swings and slide to take a little break from the heat

image

Sunday 24th Feb – And, as if we hadn’t taken enough photos already, I just had to get a family pic before we left.

image

Sunday 24th Feb – By the time we got home it was stinking hot again so the boys were straight back into the pool. I bet they didn’t imagine this 3 weeks ago! I could have loaded half a dozen pictures of this hour or so. Looking through them all was just great.

image

Sunday 24th Feb – Indulge me while I add at least one more pic of Luc. Look, the elastic and pony tail has made its return

image

Sunday 24th Feb – If this isn’t an Aussie pic at its best then I don’t know what is? Little did we know it then but it looks like this just might have been the last splash for the season the way things are going. That’ll really suck if it is.

Monday 25th Feb - Now I’m no Mr Woods, but do you think Ben could follow in Tigers footsteps one day? This has become somewhat of a ritual. Bath time, then dinner, then playing outside for an hour, then bed. Ben just loves it. I think he’s using it to catch up on all of the inside time we had back in snowy Green Bay.

That’s it for this post. I’ve just re-read it and realised that it turned out a whole lot longer than I thought it would. I do have some pics to add but I’ll do so in a new entry as there was quite a gap between this last pic of Ben and the new round of photos. Turns out we actually went 3 days without picking up the camera.....I can’t believe it!

Briefly, so far as the rest or our lives are concerned - Ben and Luc are just adorable even if they have both been sick the poor little guys. Kel is over the moon now that her teeth are out and is enjoying catching up with old friends and rejoining the kids play groups that we left behind. And I’m still writing, planning and doing my best to find something totally fun to commit myself to over the next few years of our lives. I’ll keep you posted once I know what it is. Good things are in the works though.....

Hoping you’re all well and that old man winter is slowly making his way southward to give you all a break. If it’s any consolation, it hasn’t been so great here. This summer was the coldest and wettest for 16 years and we only had two days above 30C (86F), the first time in 50 years that that has happened. I wonder what Al Gore thinks about that?

Hi Wayne and Kel!!
It was soooo good to see all the pictures...I swear the boys have grown a ton in one month! Ben looks so grown up AND happy on his first day of school. What does Grandma think of Luc’s ponytail on top of his head? grin
Glad to hear everyone is on the mend from both teeth and flu, you all look very happy. What’s going on???? We have record snowfall and you guys have one of the coolest summers on record...is it the next ice age?????
Well take care and we miss you guys!

Good Day Mate!
Great to hear from you.  Sorry about the flu.  Are you missing Wisconsin at all?  You know, all the snow and cold.
Would you please, please loose the ponytail on poor Luc.  He will not be happy with you when you show his future girlfriend those pics.
Take care!

Hi Wayne,

Just wondering what you think of Brett retiring?  I’ve really enjoyed all your posts and am looking forward to your book.  Glad you and your family are safely back home.  All I can say is you picked the best year to come to Green Bay.  You were able to see the end of an era.
