Moving Day and More American Tucker

imageI am beginning to wonder whether not having tickets or accommodation for this weeks trip to Minnesota is a problem. Ordinarily I wouldn’t be so concerned but with the Packers 3 and 0 and Brett likely to become the all time Touchdown passing leader it seems all anybody is talking about is making the trip west on the weekend. In fact it’s big news on TV and in the paper aswell. I guess we’ll wait and see. With any luck there are more tickets for sale than buyers and on first look there seems to be alot of tickets for sale.

imageThis week has been great in that we have been able to spend alot more time together now that the buzz of being the “Australian Family” has began to wear down. We made the move from our room which was of good size anyway, into a room that is about 3 times as large. Thankfully we now have more room to spread our wings without tripping over each in the process. This is especially good for the boys who can now do their own thing in their own play area without us having to move their toys out of the way every 5 seconds.

imageSomething we have wanted to do, with little success thus far, is to try as many different places to eat as we can. Having already been through the fast food debate as to what we do and don’t have back home I won’t do it again here. In saying that, Red Robin is something we don’t have back home. Like our first experience with Chuck E. Cheese we expected very little from what we thought would be “just another burger joint”. Again how wrong we were. These burgers, despite being enough to fill an entire offensive line, were totally delicious and reminded us of the good old fashioned “milk-bar” burgers we get at home. That is, big, soft, seedy buns with generous fillings and in my case a fried egg on top. Nothing says “top Aussie burger” like throwing a fried egg on top. Except of course adding a slice of beetroot but I was happy to go without that just this time. The onion rings were bracelet size, which was a little off putting but still delicious and the unlimited steak chips, that we didn’t take advantage of, would have been great had the entire defensive line decided to join us unannounced.

imageWith an untouched glass of coke spilt by “quick hands” Luc and Ben off and running to the games machines every 5 seconds we were in for an interesting night. Thankfully by the end of the evening things were a little calmer and our meals were easily finished with enough time for the customary tourist shot. All in all and I know I sound like a restaurant critic here, we again enjoyed trying something new for the first time.

Welcome to Packer country. I sure hope you like it here. It can be a wonderful place to be. But watch out for the weekend when they play the Chicago Bears. Welcome again.

Thanks JoAnne, it’s wondeful here but i think it’s the Bears that need to watch out this week.
