Settling In Nicely

3 days have passed since my last post and alot has happened since then. Our bags are unpacked, our rooms are sorted and we’re about ready to resume life as best we can. I plan on taking it a little easy for the next few days, just to get my head around actually being back and then it’ll be full steam ahead.
Over the last few days I have spent quite a bit of time on the book and a few other ideas I’d like to pursue now that all of this over. Also, I have decided to test out an idea that an old colleague, now mate and I had before we came to Green Bay. I figured if I can’t spend a little time testing a business idea out now, I may never get the chance again so why the heck not?
On a more specific note:
Monday – For most of the day we tidied ourselves up and tried to find some sort of structure. Kelly took the boys to see their Paediatrician for a check up and book them both into the Sydney Allergy Clinic to talk to them about what happened in LA. Whilst they were all out I kept on sorting ourselves out. Vacations are fun I’ve decided, coming back from them sucks though.
After that the boys and I did a whole lot of playing. There were 2 massive boxes under which Ben and Ella’s cars from Santa Claus were hidden so we turned them upside down and made forts out of them. They were used as cubby houses, pretend boats and a place to hide from Kel. It was loads of fun. Even Luc got into the ball throwing action once all of the other ideas had been exhausted.
In the evening I managed to get a glimpse of the Pro Bowl (that’s me with my mighty Cronulla Sharks Rugby League cap on). It was a replay from earlier in the day. It was a fitting end I thought, even if I did only watch a little bit of it. I know the Pro Bowl is supposed to be a big thing but seriously, when half of the guys pull out and the other half go because the lure of being in Hawaii is to good to refuse, it kind of takes the shine off the game. Some people call it a spectacle more than anything. Me? When I watch football I want it to mean something – that’s all.
Tuesday – Ben and I went and washed my car this morning as it’s been under a tarpaulin for the last week thanks to the threat of hail. It was awesome fun. I enjoy washing the car as it’s one of those jobs that has an end result. You know, dirty car then clean car. You actually get to see the difference your hard work made. Plus, it was Ben’s first time so that made it even cooler.
By the time we came back a friend of ours, Lauren, was over with her son and he and Ben played feverishly in the yard for hours. It was 82F (28C) today before the clouds hit which isn’t overly hot. We however, with our semi Wisconsin blood, were sweating it out big time. Kelly and I got such a kick out of seeing the boys play with water in their underpants and singlets. If one thing has made us feel more at home than ever, it’s this.
Wednesday – It was alot cooler today than yesterday. In the shade and with the wind it was only 70F (20C). Kel took Ben out to do some shopping this morning while I researched ideas and worked on the book. She was back a little while before taking Luc out on an afternoon trip and leaving Ben to play on nickjr.com. Some things never change huh? I must say, it’s nice taking the boys out without having to worry about warming the car up, scraping the windows and dressing them in 4 layers with gloves, hats and boots. This evening Ella came over for some dinner and a little play before bed which was, is, always nice.
Tomorrow we’re off to Ben’s pre-school to have a look around. He should have started last week but we’re giving him at least another 2 weeks before we take him there for his first real mummyless day. After that we’re going to head down the beach, get a coffee at my favourite cafe and take a ton of pics. Also, I’ve been filming video of the excursion home so I’ll get a chance to finish that off once we get there too.
We’re all very much looking forward to it. I’ll post again in a few days. I’ll be starting work on Monday so I can tell you all about that too.
Have fun,

Look forward to all your updates. Ben off to pre-school soon… It’s exciting for everyone until the actual day. Kel will probably be the worst, but it will be more traumatic when Luc finally reaches that age.
Wish you well on all your new and upcoming ventures.

Thank you so much for continuing your saga while home. It is part of my daily routine to check your site out as I love it so much! MY dream has always been to visit Australia and just maybe, one of these days I will!

I love reading your posts and please keep them coming. I know you said you would, but as the comments slow, it doesn’t mean that people aren’t reading. I am assuming you have a counter to track the traffic to the website and will be able to tell. I truly enjoy these updates. With them, I tend to live my life vicariously through you. I am able to do that because I have two boys as well and they are in a similar age range. I also have a love for the Green Bay Packers and for the Sydney metropolitan area having visited there myself once. I just think it is an amazing city and setting. So please keep the posts coming!
One last thought, I have an idea for you. You should consider a The Once In a Lifetime Fan forgeign exchange program. It can take place between Sydney and anyone who has a love for the Packers. It could also go for someone wanting to go to Australia and follow a sport.
Anyone else reading these comments like the idea?

Can’t wait for the book, Wayne. I know that since I’m graduating, my dream 4 years of being this close to the Packers is about to end too.

Holy Cow! I just found out about your adventure for the first time tonight. You could not have picked a better team or a better year to follow. I live 7hrs by car from Green Bay and thought that was a big trip to see a game, but not anymore after learning of your trip. I will be looking for your book!!! Be sure to mention the Packers are the ONLY publicly owned team in the NFL. Fantasic Story!

Miss hearing from you, mate. Glad to hear you’re settling nicely back in Oz, and enjoying the warmth. You probably know what we have back here. My mates in Geelong remind me daily, and keep renewing their invitaion to join them. It looks better and better every day, and should I take them up on it, we will finally meet. G’day to Kelly and the kids as well, and hope your business plan works out, as long as it isn’t a snowmobile or snowblower sales operation. Not much market there. Go Cats. Mike.

Aren’t green and gold the national colors down under? Maybe that’s it. Or maybe they just have extremely good taste in football teams.

Putting a window display of merchandise in a store’s window is called “window dressing”, which is also used to describe the items displayed themselves.
