Still in LA

Just a quick update today for the last few days.
Monday - we did a live interview with “Sunrise”, a nationwide morning program back home, similar to “Good Morning America”. After that we played it pretty easy knowing that we’d see a few things Tuesday before our flight home in the evening. (The picture is Kelly and Ben at an outdoor mall called Century City. It was very cool and that’s without me telling you about the sorts of cars they were parking in valet.)
Tuesday – We took the boys on a trip down to Rodeo Drive with hopes of getting to Hollywood after that. The temps are in the mid 60’s after all. Our plans weren’t to stay long, just get out and have a look around town before our flights later in the evening. Just after we parked the car (lunchtime) Ben become horribly sick thanks to an allergic reaction and that resulted in a trip to the Emergency Room that lasted well into the evening. I don’t fancy writing about it too much to be honest but he was in an awful state for a while there and so were Kelly and I. As a result we had to change our flights and make plans to stay another 2 days to make sure he is OK to fly. (I chose this pic because it was one of the only pics i took all day. Plus it takes my mind off what happpened next. Could it be anymore LA with it’s Sunshine, palm trees and Porsche in the foreground. Reminds me of the Sega classic “Outrun” for those who played alot of PC games in the late 80’s.)
Wednesday – Ben woke up like he wasn’t even sick last night and proceeded to run around the room with limitless energy. If only he knew what he and we, were going through just 18 hours earlier. We went for a little walk through the Promenade, more so to get them out of the hotel than anything else and retired back to our room with plans to do absolutely nothing. (This pic is the boys and Kelly playing with their new toys outside the bookstore on the 3rd Street walkway. It was so good to see Ben up and at ‘em.)
What a few days it has been! I actually had a whole lot of things to write about but with Ben being as sick as he was all of that went out the window. We’re off this evening (Thursday) now. Will keep you posted.....

I have been reading your blog since the beginning of your journey, but this is the first time I have written a comment.
It has been a joy to read about Green Bay from an “outsiders” perspective. We live in Milwaukee and get to Green Bay every summer so our children: 13, 10, and 7 can watch the Packers practice. They bring their bicycles for players to ride and get lots of autographs. It is such a thrill for them.
May God bless you with a safe trip home.
We’ll keep our eyes out for your book.

Well you certainly are having enough trouble “getting out of Dodge”. But then again you could be back here in Wi. with 16 - 19 inches of snow. But I am guessing you & the family would not mind that at all. Poor Ben, I hope the rest of the trip will be good for him. I’m hoping your flight tonite will be trouble free. Take care.

I had the opportunity to watch your interview at the stadium for the radio the night before the last playoff game. I wanted to let you know that I deeply respect your family for the courage you have all had to take part in this journey. What a wonderful experience for all of you. I hope that it has been a good 1/2 of year and that you have made many friends since your trip began. We are from the Sheboygan area but visit GB as much as possible. I too would love to live right there all the time. How can you not want to get caught up in that excitement and history. Do you plan on coming back? Our family thinks that you might be part of the luck! GO PACK!! Looking forward to your book.
