The Day at Lambeau

imageWhat better way to spend the day than going to the Atrium at Lambeau to check it out properly for the first time? Thinking about where to have lunch and spend what could have been a wet and windy day was easy knowing that we hadn’t actually had a good look around the venue that brought us some 15,000 miles in the first place.

imageFor a while I had wanted to get to Curly’s for a meal and it certainly didn’t disappoint. After both the Eagles and Chargers home games I have walked out of the stadium into the atrium and looked up at what seemed a very buzzing, very full pub worthy of spending a post game hour or two. Wanting to live it up I had decided not to go there without Kelly cause it always struck me as the sort of place she would love to go to aswell. We’ll still get there after the first game we both attend but for now it was nice to go somewhere that offered a “sit-down” meal and had more than cheeseburgers on the menu.

imageMy first impression was great. I wondered if I had charged the battery on the camera though ‘cause I could see about 1000 photos being taken in very quick succession. We went easy ‘cause the kids, despite being totally gorgeous will only stand for so many pictures in a day. The memorabilia was incredible and the pictures on the wall make you realise that this team has some serious history behind it. Sure, we all know that already but you can’t escape the heritage in everything you see and do here.

imageThe meal itself was delicious if not rushed. With Ben having already spotted the games room and Luc wanting to do what Ben wanted to do we threw our food down in true parent style and escaped to play as many coin-operated machines as our new pre-paid, coin-operated card would allow.

imageWe visited the Pro-shop on our way out and I was tempted by every single piece of anything that had a green “G” on it. That is to say that I was tempted from bar-room carpet to player jerseys and novelty bobble-heads to baby pacifiers (which we call dummies to the un-initiated). I am proud to say that I was able to avoid going completely overboard and we bought a few little things for the boys only. This won’t last though. Winter is coming and there’s going to be a ton of things that I know I’ll “need” to buy at the time.

imageApart from doing our best to take more photographs on our way to the car, this one with our very good friend and photographer, chauffer and confidant extrodinaire Tari, we headed home for a quiet night of R and R before what we know is going to be a big weekend ahead.

Try shopping at Shopko in town for some cheaper Packer gear then what the Pro Shop might offer from time to time or Kohl’s as well.  Limited selection but better prices on “G” stuff

Thanks for the advice Bill. We’ve been looking all over town. Go Pack

I am truly inspired by your journey, and I don’t just mean your journey to Lambeau, but the way you are living your dream.  I recently turned 50 and came to the realization that it’s pointless to work hard to save for retirement and miss out on opportunities to live in the now.  Today is all we really have, and I’ve become much more aware of that and am enjoying each day to the fullest.  I have a 50-something husband who plays in a local rock band, which keeps us young every weekend.  Of course we are both Packer fans (even though he was born in Chicago).  I think Brett Favre has much in common with you in the way you view life.  I hope you get to meet him while here.  Best wishes to your family as you take this journey.

Thanks Sharon, i wonder if Brett feels the same way?

You are right though, if you don’t do it now you may never actually do it and where’s the point in that? As i’ve always said, at what point do you stop living the life you want and start living the life you think have to?
