Week 13 vs Panthers

G’day All,

Only a short post this week I’m sorry, it’s been a busy one!

So I haven’t seen a seconds worth of the game this week. Today (Monday) was such a beautiful day that we spent the day outside, in the sun and at the beach. By lunchtime we’d hit 95F so being outdoors was always on the cards. I did get a chance to follow the game on my phone before we went out though. Here’s a little of how it went. I woke up and checked the score, 21 all at half time. I started preparing the beach bag and checked again only a few minutes later, 28 all. Not bad i thought, still plenty of time to kick a field goal… Checked a little while later and sure enough, with only 90 seconds to go we were up 31 - 28, just as I had hoped.

Now this is where it gets difficult. Unable to see or hear anything i had to continually refresh the nfl.com page to see the shift in score as the clock wound down. Low and behold, as i checked it again only 5 or so minutes later we were down and the game was over. Like I said, I have no idea what happened and won’t get a chance to see it with my own eyes for a few days thanks to my hours this week and the fact that my connection is quite a slow one. Another close game gone by the wayside though - what a bummer. Then of course, to make matters worse, the Vikings won again. Is it just me or are we really pushing the rest of the season uphill from this point???

Maybe the Pack need a little Aussie help as the year winds down? We provided a little luck last year, perhaps a trip there for moral support this year might do the trick. Not likely I’ve gotta say but it is a fun thought. And on a light note to finish the post off, I thought I’d share with you something Ben asked me today. As we walked by a shop with Christmas decorations this morning, he asked “Daddy, now that Christmas is coming, when is it going to snow?”. How adorable is that? Poor kid doesn’t realise that this year he’ll be sweating like crazy as opposed to freezing his bottom off. There’s a good chance he’ll enjoy having his shirt off, playing cricket out the front and swimmimg in the pool though!

Take care,

I am enjoying your posts again. Thanks!! I think that we are going to have to live with these close losses this year. (4 losses by 4pts or less) Rodgers played great this week, however I think that Favre would have pulled us through on a couple of our losses. Next year will be better.

Tell little Ben that his former hometown here in Green Bay has snow! A winter wonderland this morning. Snowmen appearing in front yards and children delighted to play in it once again. Seasons here mark the passing of time and they keep all of us northerners centered! Holiday wishes to all of your family.

That little Ben of yours is Adorable!!!!

Let him know back home we do have snow…
And A snowman on our front lawn. Might even be able to add to it this weekend.
Take Care for now!
Say Hi to the rest of the Family!

Out of the mouth of babes.  Tell Ben we now have PLENTY of snow and we are getting more as I write.  He could get lost in a snowbank by tomorrow afternoon!!  And it is quite cold about 10F and wind blowin’. Yuck, I’m sick of winter already!!!
Don’t know if Favre could have pulled us out of those close losses.  Rodgers is playing well, but the offensive line falls apart and the defensive line is inconsistent.  And the stats show that Favre hasn’t thrown that many passes and he certainly can’t scramble like he did 10 yrs ago, so I doubt he would have done any better with the Pack.  Don’t understand it...same team as last year with a very good QB.  QB is fine..team falls apart.  Coaching???  Anyway, it will now take luck and a miracle to get to the playoffs.  If I don’t post again, I want to wish you and you family a very Merry Christmas!!!

Yeah Wayne what a difference on where we are from a year ago huh?
I was loving almost getting to another superbowl last year but now we have a mess of a team all thanks to Ted Thompson!  Yeah I’m a NYJ fan now too, I miss old Brett, people can say what they want but I think we would of had at least 3 more wins with him on the roster.  Rodgers has not had a 4 quarter comeback yet!
send me a message if you want to talk packers downtown at a pub sometime, I’m living in Balmain right now.
cheers
Paul

Can’t understand fair-weather fans Paul. The train has left the station ... Get over it.

Let’s look at the facts. #12 has more yds, more yds per pass, more TD’s, less interceptions, and a better rating than #4. Rogers is the real deal.

Even the magic of Farve could not compensate for a missed field goal against the Vikings our pathetic last quarter defense in recent weeks.

All I can say is GO PACK who cares about the Jets

hey cheers to you paul. fred in florida. have been a packer fran all my life. it just erks me when management can do no wrong, well..............
five and eight is tough after 13 and 3. what was tt thinking except his ego is in the way. wayne what do you think?
ps. gonna see ac/dc in 9 days we will rock!

Fred, get over it. Like it or not Brett is gone. The defense is the problem this year. Maybe management has made some mistakes, but we all do. It’s called being human. By the way, have you ever met Mr. Thompson? Do you really know that he has an ego problem, or are you just saying that because you heard someone else say it? Hopefully our favorite team can get healthy, maybe sign a free agent or 2, and have better draft picks because we had to suffer through this difficult season. Next year should be a good year.

Dear Shoebox,

Why do you have to attack Fred? It seams to me that TT has never admitted that he is can make mistakes. I think that a fan has the right to be irked. TT is a big boy, I don’t think that he is losing sleep about the opinion of Fred or the rest of us.

I agree that next year will be better. We will get a good pick for the Favre deal.

I will be around for the Lions game this year to cheer on the team. I just hope that Favre stays with the Jets, and does not end up with the Vikings.

PS it going to be -17 tonight VERY COLD!!!

Merry Christmas to all,

John & Maylan

Dear John.

I was not attacking anyone. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I am just tired of people bashing TT on a personal level by saying his ego is getting in the way. Do you really believe that he would risk his job just to get players he drafted on the field? His job is to make the team as good as he can, and sometimes that means making unpopular decisions. He may not always be right, but he has to try. If we were all even half as smart as we think we are, we would be doing his job, and the Pack would win the super bowl every year. Wouldn’t that be nice!!

Merry Christmas!

Dear Shoebox,

Do you really think you that all GM’s get the job because they are REALLY SMART???

In my opinion they have to have a level of intelligence, but mostly they have the job based on a combination of knowing the right people, having a level of experience, and being at the right place at the right time.

I do think that lots of folks are as smart as ol TT.

Stay Warm and GO PACKERS!!!

John

Dear John.

There you go putting words in my mouth again! I never said anything about GMs being really smart, in fact, I have absoulutely no idea what TT’s IQ is. My comment was about how so many of us fans get to sit back and scrutinize every move that gets made, and for some reason many believe that they could do better. TT works very long days evaluating talent, and has alot of other scouts and personnel staff doing the same to make all of their decisions, yet fans that read articles or watch TV think they could just step in and make better choices. I just don’t understand that way of thinking. I’m not even saying that TT is the best GM out there, he makes mistakes sometimes. So does every GM in the league! I guess I am just glad we have him at the controls versus letting Mike Sherman continue to ruin the roster. Oh yeah, remember Ron Wolf............he made some bad calls too, but he was still looked at by most people as an excellent GM. That is how I feel about it, so I guess we will just have to agree to disagree on this issue.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to rant alittle.

Take care and stay warm also.
Shoebox

P.S. I sure hope my faith in TT is valid, because this will be a very important draft coming up for the Packers.
Go Packers!! Beat those bears!!!

Dear Shoebox,

I knew that you just needed a good rant. I’m glad that I could help to get it out of you.

For the record, I think that TT is doing OK as a GM. I also agree with you regarding Mike Sherman. I just thought you were being a little hard on Fred. Fans should be able to express opinions without apologizing for them. (thanks..that was my rant) now I feel better also

PS...Maybe I should be the GM. I did pretty well with my Fantasy leagues this year, and that was on a very part time basis… Just think what I could do if I spent TT’s very long hours on it and had a group of helpers. Maybe we would be in the Superbowl. JK

Take Care and don’t forget to put out the Milk and Cookies for SANTA.

Dear John.

Glad we both feel better now!

Glad to hear that you are doing well in fantasy ball. I missed out on the fantasy bowl in our league by 1 point!! Very frustrating!!

I’d better get going on those cookies for santa. I need him to come through for me this year. All I’m asking for is a good job, being laid off gives me too much time to play on the internet!!! Maybe I should leave him some peanuts and beer this year. Would that be considered bribery?

Take care and happy holidays!!

I think Peter sums it up with this. Packers will be a major contender for years to come...just sucks they missed the playoffs
