What a Whirlwind

imageI don’t even know where to start today.

By now most of you will have seen the photo to the left plastered across the front of The Green Bay Press Gazette. I would like to thank the Gazette for everything they have done in making Kelly, Benjamin, Lucas and Myself feel so very welcome here in Green Bay. In particular Mike who has gone out of his way to follow our story from well before we even considered following this once in a lifetime trip.

We have spoken with alot of people today, complete strangers for the most part and the reception we have been given is nothing short of amazing. There are so many warm, kind-hearted people in this town and it is a pleasure being here amongst it all.

I must say the front page did take us a little by surprise. We hadn’t seen the paper when we went down for breakfast this morning so to say it was a shock would be quite an understatement. Particularly when people were looking at it then looking at us and repeating the motion just to be sure.

We have received countless emails (of which we will most certainly respond) from well wishers and kind words of support that have re-assured us that the decision we made to come here was most definitely the right one. We have been offered things that we could never have imagined and received invitations that we would never have expected.

I slept very little last night making sure this site was up to date and as I type this it is well after midnight again. Tomorrow will be a big day for all so this is a short post on the way to some shut-eye. I’m certain over the next few days we’ll have a chance to sit down and re-count the last few days in greater detail for those of you that are keen to read on.

For now, if you didn’t see the story please see the links on the media tab and enjoy the story as much as we have today.

Go Pack.

I’m an Aussie and have lived in Wisconsin for 15 yrs.  Hope it is everything you want. If you want to look around the Appleton area for housing - I could show you around (although I will be in Oz from 15th -29th, on the Gold Coast)

I admire your determination to follow your dream.  Just glad the Packers won the 1st game for you.  Enjoy your time in the United States.  I’ve only attended 1 game myself and it was a once in a lifetime experience for me.

Welcome to Green Bay- your story made me smile… and I admire you for following your dream.  Good luck and enjoy your stay-- I am smiling because I have some online friends from Australia and during a chat that was actually about the Green Bay Packers- I learned a difference in our cultures and what words can mean. Letting you know that while you can’t take one into the stadium… it is okay to say fanny pack. smile

Definately take your kids to Bay Beach - it’s like stepping back 20 yrs or more in time. SUPER for kids.
I lived in Appleton and worked in GreenBay. My office backed up to Holmgren Way! I swore I’d never be a Packer fan when I moved there… but I lied. Everyone taught me the players, the game, the history & I am still a “Packer-backer” only now I live in Michigan and wear a cheesehead hat to Packer-Lion games.
Packer Fans are the best
Second only to the Packers and those living in GreenBay territory.

GO PACK! Enjoy the thrill of it all!
Safe travels

In a world that dwells on all the negatives it is refreshing to read and see something so positive. Welcome to Wisconsin and maybe you’ll extend your stay for a lifetime but what ever you do enjoy your dream and those memories your making today for your children will last forever. God bless you and your family. GO PACK GO

Wayne and Family, you sure know how to
follow your dream!!  I hope the courage
it took to get here is paying off in
many blessings.  As for the Packers, I
can’t remember when they last had a better season, 10-1 as of today...not even when they won the SuperBowl....
They’ll (The Packer Headquarters) will have to pay you to come visit every season, I think you have brought the team tremendous luck!!!  Brrrrrrrrrrrr...it’s cold for us too, and no, you never get used to it.
