TT gave Brett the shaft!  Packers will lose hundreds of thousands of fans around the world without Brett.  Don’t blame him for leaving the organization one bit.  I am a packer fan for life but it just won’t be the same!

It is very sad to see that the Packers and Brett couldn’t come to an agreement. I am just glad that he didn’t become a Viking. That would be way too much drama for me here in MN. I said anywhere but here.

This is all just heartbreaking.  TT and MM have made horrible decisions all around.  I think they will really regret how they have treated Brett.  I wish him well in NY and I am also very happy that he did not go to the Vikings.  As much as I love Brett, I just could not have rooted for him on that team.

It’s sad and surreal.  When I watched the Jets press conf.  I thought I was watching a movie, it couldn’t possibly be real.  Unfortunately it was.  I need something good to happen, when is that book of yours coming??

This is really a said day and now it is one of those things were do I follow Brett or stay with the Packers. He really is the reason I started watching football. I never really cared for it till Brett got there. Now I guess I will be watching the Jets games as long as they are on TV.

I think TT and MM were wrong to trade Brett. I am glad that this has finally ended, i just wish it had ended differently. I now have a 2nd fave team.I will always be a Brett Favre fan, but i am a Packers fan first! Can’t wait to hear more from you!

I suggest you all read Jason Whitlock’s article about Brett Favre on Fox sports.. he has got it exactly right..It was office politics by TT and MM..100 yrs from now nobody will remeber TT or MM, but they will remeber Brett Favre.. the article basically states how Favre was railroaded out of Green Bay.. I, unlike others will follow Favre( I think some of u have forgotten what he has done for the Packers) but I will remain a Packer fan… however the Packers will not even break even this yr with Aaron Rodgers at QB, and MM will be lucky to have a job in 2 yrs and maybe TT too.. it’s gonna be a long sad season.

Hi Wayne.

I kind of have a different opinion than most.  I am and will always be a Packers fan first (shareholder) and a Brett Favre fan second.  I do not believe that a player should decide who should be head coach (Brett wanted Mooch) this one of the things that ate at him over the last few years.  Unfortunatly it came down to a pissing contest, and even though Brett is and will always be a big part of the Packers, they remain the Green Bay Packers, in which he is (or was)an employee.  they are not the Brett Favre Packers.  That being said, I will buy a Favre jets jersey and it will be the only non-Packers football jersey I will wear.  I will miss Brett playing for my team, but the team had to get out from the yearly will he or won’t he merry-go-round.  Brett is not bigger than the Packers.

Gotta agree with boB M on this..  It is a business and Brett was an employee. He wanted to hand pick the coach and a receiver (Moss).  Harlan would not have anything to do with getting Moss. He considered him a “cancer” in the locker room.  Brett just proved he is just like the rest of the spoiled divas in sports.  I frankly think he won’t be all that happy at NY, He’s is not a BIG CITY guy and it is BIG and hurried and crowded all around that part of the U.S.  And I think the Pack will do just fine with Aaron.  GO PACK!!

Brett had his chances to be back with the team and he let his ego and emotions control him. He had the QB job then decided to stay retired. He was offered the opportunity to compete w/ Rodgers and he turned that down by saying it would be distracting and cause a circus. He had a great year last year, but Packer fans are better off with him stumbling out the end of his career in a different uniform.

WW is wrong.  Favre being offered the chance to compete with Rodgers was a joke.  They had already decided it was going to be Rodgers and Brett wasn’t in the right “mindset” to be his backup.  Favre didn’t deserve that treatment period!!

It’s a sad thing, but I think Favre never should have retired if he thought he still wanted to play. It’s so unfair to Aaron Rodgers to finally let him settle in to being a starter and then jump in and try to take it all back. What a slap in the face that would have been if they had benched him at the last minute in favor of Favre. And shame on the rotten people who have been booing him for not being Brett. I would have thought the people of Green Bay were better than that.

Yes, Favre is great. But he’s been toying with our emotions for the past several years - we never knew if each season would be his last. I always thought he would announce it earlier in the season and then play his heart out before retiring so I was disappointed to see him skulk off in the off-season, especially so early.

It’s going to be surreal to see Brett in a Jets jersey. No matter where he plays, I am still a Packers fan first and foremost. Although we’ll never know all of the details, I don’t fault management for making a decision they think is best for the long-term future of the team. I also don’t fault Brett for playing somewhere else. In a perfect world, he wouldn’t have retired and we’d still have him. But once he made that choice, I think this is the best outcome we could have hoped for. Reggie White did the same thing - retired and came back with another team. These things happen.

Wayne, I’m glad you made it here for his last season with us.

By the numbers.. ONE LOSS for aaron rodgers..ya rodgers looked ok , but that is against one of the worst teams in the league last yr.. local TV reported tonight that Brett Favre did give a 2 yr. commitment to the Packers but TT and MM wanted no part of it, if TT and MM think Favre can’t play then why did they not even want him in the NFC??..answer.. because they know he can still play 10 times better than rodgers..rodgers has been in the NFL for 3 yrs now and has not won a game for the Packers yet, he has not even been able to play 2 games in a row casue he gets hurt after a game..notice rodgers only played 1 qrt. tonight. Thats because TT and MM are too scared he will get hurt...TT and MM wanted Favre to leave and thier ego’s would not let Favre come back..TT and MM are too afraid to admit they made a huge mistake and it will cost them thier jobs.. thier job is to get the best players they can and win games...not let ego’s get in the way of that, also Favre did not skulk off early like someone above said ..he was pushed to make an early exit by TT and MM.. Favre is not the one toying with our emotions.. TT and MM are with thier ego’s...The Packers will be lucky to win 4 games this season with rodgers.. anohter 20 yrs of losing again with a TT and MM mindset

I think we all need to remember that Pro Sports is a big business....in case of the Packers,,,TT runs the business.  Yes, he most likely forced Brett to retire, even though Brett is a productive employee.  Businesses sometimes do that when they feel the need to revamp.  And Brett did toy with us and the Packers front office annually for the last few years with a ..."is this my final year or not?”
so the front office had enough with that since they had drafted a promising QB, and he had not a chance to prove himself.  How could he if the starter played EVERY game and the enire game.  Remember that a QB will only look good and be productive on the scorebosrd when surrounded by good people doing their jobs.  That was Brett last year.  But remember 4-12 a few years back?? That was not just attributed to bad coaching.  It’s a new era and That’s Life!!!  Just enjoy rooting for the greatest team in football history!!!  GO PACK!!!

No ..Brett did not toy with us, the front office did by pushing Brett!!!!! as for rodgers being able to prove himself, he has had many chances at it and failed each time!!!.. it seems u forget that he has played in games where we were behind plenty of times and he didn’t get ONE WIN!!!, OH how soon a lot of u all forget, Brett was traded to the Packers and when the Majik man went down.. Brett came in and had a come from behind victory in his first game with the Packers with extremely little NFL experience!!!.. it seems some of u forget all the good and great years Brett gave the Packers!!! without Brett..none of it would have happened, I have seen many business’s revamp before and not for the better.. they go broke.. this was a very bad choice by TT and MM.... Brett gave us our best chance to go to a super bowl this yr...not rodgers.. so why revamp???!!!.. thats just plain bad business!!.. also ya brett played every game but not all the time the entire game.. rodgers would come in and play when brett got hurt and he did that quite a few times.. GET UR FACTS STRAIGHT!!!! like I said above TT and MM’s mindset will doom the Packers and they will be out of a job in 2 or 3 yrs.. it amazes me how everybody was on the Brett band wagon , now a lot won;t even stick up for the guy after all he has done for the Packers..very disgusting!!!

The joke that is ted thomson and mike McCarthy and aaron rodgers has begun, Brett the Jet Favre - 5 for 6 passing and one TD. aaron rodgers passing - sucky. Great job revamping mike and ted, what a joke this season is going to be

Well, This has got to be the worst ever!!!

Had Brett stayed retired we would have cheered Rogers on. With no problem!!

How ever!!!!!
Brett wanted and changed his mind about playing,,,,,
This should have been an easy call!!
HE IS BACK!!!

But TT wanted nothing to do with a 16 year Veteran!!!!One who could have left the team many times!! But love Green Bay and wanted to stay!!!
One that could have brought us all the way this year!!! to the SuperBowl!!!
This is just so wrong on every level!!!!
I hope in my opinion that TT gets let go!! Maybe this would teach him not to mess with a good team!

I will always be a Packer Fan...Have been all my life…
But I will watch the Jets!!!!
I may boycott most of the season this year…
Oh, yes I will peak at a game or two, but won’t be going to one this year…

Can’t wait for you to come on and talk Wayne!!!

Hope everything is going well with you , Kelly and the kids!!!!

Cheers!!!!

Wow- I am finding all the comments on your blog very interesting… The whole Brett Farve controversy was such a mess.  First of all, all the reference to pressure for Brett to retire?  The man should have been used to handling pressure, he was our quarterback. Then, a few weeks after he retires, Brett then announces he wants to come back and Packers are willing to meet and talk- BUT then Brett says… nah, I will stay retired. THEN in July… Brett says whoa-- I want to play.  I would have been embarrassed if the Packer Organization had taken Brett back at the last moment. As much as I am grateful for all that Brett has done for the Packers and fans alike, I find his behavior over the summer to be a turn-off.  He walked away a true hero and legend and now his image for me, is sullied.  If the Packers had taken him back and then they had a bad season, the fans would have roasted them for taking Brett back--- they did not take him back and now the fans are roasting them for that.... it truly was a double-edged sword.

Wayne,

I appreciate the forum. As much as I want to be upset with the Packers and Brett I know that there is something that none of us are allowed to hear: the rift between Brett and Management was far too personal for both parties.  I was hopeful that when Brett announced his intentions he would again take the helm, but in the ensuing weeks Packers Management created an environment that was impossible for either party to be successful. Yes, I blame Packers Management. Brett proved last year that he is still able to throw the ball with accuracy and exactness. Sorry Rodgers, but Brett is the King.

The way I see it is the Packers could have accepted Brett back and offer Aaron Rodgers an extension or his release. At the end of the day Brett gives the Pack the best chance to win, period.
I will always and forever be a Packers fan, but it will hurt every down this season that I see Brett take a snap from the Jets center.

GO PACKERS!!....and BRETT!!

WOW, 1 down 15 to go...I don’t know what to think of the whole Favre/Rogers mess. I think that blame can be passed out to both sides of the argument. I do know that the choice the management made to keep Rogers without a decent backup was stupid. I hope Rogers plays well and stays healthy or else the packers will be truly stuck.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon, my wife and I are checking for your next post every day.

Go Pack Go!!!
