Will You Go Out With Me?

imageOur new apartment, a day of shopping and some time alone for two very worn out parents.

Something I haven’t mentioned over the last week or so of posts is that one of our dear friends Kathy was kind enough to keep an eye out for an apartment for us. We didn’t ask, it was just mentioned once one had been found.

This took us totally by surprise as we had committed ourselves to staying here at the Regency until we headed back home sometime early next year. Having seen the unit already we found out today that our application had been accepted and we would be OK to move later in the week. I can’t tell you what a relief this is. Sure it’s not as convenient as living in a hotel and everyone here has been so accommodating but in the end, having our own space without the buzz of hotel life really will be a welcome and settling change.

imageWe checked out the new neighbourhood this afternoon before spending the day at Bay Park. What was supposed to be a stop for lunch turned into almost the entire day. It’s really nice there. The boys got to build themselves a bear each, both Halloween themed. After that we looked at all of the other Halloween decorations we have never seen before in our lives and wondered how much Hallmark make from all of these self created occasions. The hat by the way has nothing to do with Halloween. It says “Caution - Slow Moving Senior” and Ben just loved it.

There was a hidden agenda to running the boys a little ragged at Bay Park this afternoon. Kelly and I had decided, after 6 weeks, we needed to have a hot date. OK, so the Titletown Brewery isn’t exactly the world’s most romantic place but when you haven’t had two seconds alone for so long even the depths of the deep blue sea would have done.

imageSitting down for longer than 5 seconds was nice. Actually being in a restaurant made it even nicer. Doing it with my childhood sweetheart, both enjoying a glass of locally brewed beer was the icing on the cake. Sure we had the boys on our minds but boy it was nice to feel like real life adults again. We had an absolute ball together. It’s funny, when you haven’t been out for so long you tend to go a little crazy. We took about 1000 photos, laughed, pulled faces and spoke in ridiculous voices. It was easily the best night of the trip so far.

Awwwww Wayne, you’re such a sweetie. You two are so cute together.  What did you think of the beer bread?  It’s my favorite!  I keep e-mailing them for the recipe, but get no response!  Glad you had some adult time together!

Wayne,

I figured you would want to see this.  On Saturday in my home town of Fond du lac there was a Packer-themed wedding.  the local paper covered it.  You can iew photos of it here:

Just goes to show you don’t have to live in GB to be crazy about the Pack.

Wayne
You and Kelly are so cute together.  And I know what you mean about a hot date.  We(hubby and I)are in our 60’s and we look forward to a hot date, too.  Of course, we’ve only been married 8 1/2 yrs!!!
